This school year Mr. Jamie Hudson, the agriculture educator at Elba High School and his students were

given the chance to help out with the community and city of Elba. Mr. Hudson was asked to build beds

of vegetables and flowers as a beautification project at the school. Of course, he eagerly accepted. His

classes have been working very arduously each period to assist with the community service project. All

vegetables grown throughout the school year will be donated to the “Giving Gardens”, a local food bank

in Elba. The students will be in charge of growing the produce while Mr. Hudson and other career tech

teachers assist them. This project is a great way to give back to the community and all enrolled students

are very excited to be able to have the opportunity to make a difference to those who need it and gain

experience doing projects they enjoy at the same time. Caleb Walden and Kelsey Kelley, sophomores

at Elba High School stated that “they loved working on this during school because they know they are

helping someone out in need.”
