Excellence and Innovation

The music program in the Elba City School System is a comprehensive program through which all students K-12 receive instruction in either General or Instrumental Music.  Elementary students in grades K-6 have weekly music classes in a state-of-the-art music building which houses our Yamaha MIE computer-driven keyboard lab (one of only a few statewide).  Elementary students may take band classes beginning in the 5th grade.  The elementary band performs seasonal concerts and for special school programs and ceremonies.  Elementary students also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular choir.  Junior and Senior High students may participate in the "Marching Tiger" Band, a renowned, award winning band program which performs at all varsity football games and many other regional events.   The concert bands at the high school participate in Alabama Bandmasters Association events and also perform seasonal concerts and for various school and community programs (the band has performed for the governor of Alabama on two separate occasions).  All high school students are required to take a general music course and may audition to participate in an extracurricular gospel choir.

The Elba band program overcame the devastating effects of the 1990 flood.

Since the flooding in the 1990's the Elba band program has been very well received by the public.

The "Marching Tigers" are widely travelled. They routinely participate in football games, marching competitions, regional parades and other events.

The Elba band has an outstanding record at band competitions having won its division in all the captions at various contests

The band program sponsors a dance line, majorettes and a colorguard. Each of which have won many awards in competition.
The band recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. It is the oldest band program in Coffee County.
The pride and showmanship of the EHS "Marching Tiger" Band continues.
